Frenchman Benoit Paire had a giant obstacle to overcome to reach the quarterfinals at the Western and Southern Open. That giant would be six foot ten inch John Isner. The pair would battle in a couple of tiebreakers, before last weeks run in Canada would catch up with Isner in the third set. Paire moved on 7-6 (1), 6-7 (2), 6-1.
