Fresh off its debut Tuesday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. has released the teaser trailer for director Todd Phillips'Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix as DC's Clown Prince of Crime.
Set, appropriately enough, to the classic song "Smile," the first footage is set against the backdrop of a bleak early-1980s Gotham City, and follows the descent of Phoenix's Arthur Fleck, from a failed stand-up comedian to the manic criminal who becomes Batman's archenemy.
My problem with this, by the time Batman comes of age the Joker will be 70. It looks ok for what it is, but I think it is completely unnecessary.
