AMAs Host Ciara Praises Taylor Swift for Being a ‘Pioneer’ and ‘Boss Lady’

2019 Billboard Music Awards - Show

Ciara is hosting the star-studded 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday, November 24, and confirmed during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Friday, November 22, you won’t want to miss the live awards show.

“It’s jam-packed,” Ciara teased, listing off performances from Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, the Jonas Brothers and many more. “The show is stacked back-to-back … It’s going to be by far one of the best shows in the history of AMAs.”

Swift, who currently holds the record for the most wins by a female performer in history, will be honored as the artist of the decade. Her performance has already made headlines in regards to her dispute with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, who allegedly were halting Swift from being able to perform songs from her catalog.

“Taylor always brings it,” Ciara shared. "... I do know from what I’ve heard you definitely want to tune in and see what she’s gonna do. It’s going to be fun.”

While it’s unclear which songs the “Lover” artist will ultimately perform, Ciara stands behind Swift.

“I just love everything she does. I’m a huge supporter of her whole movement,” Ciara said. “She’s such a boss lady. … She’s always on point. She’s really smart. I really respect the business side of her. … She’s been a pioneer in so many ways. She’s been that woman that’s never been afraid to stand up for what she believes in and she’s actually like literally moved the needle while doing it. It’s really hard to do that when you believe in something but you actually convince the system to change up what they’re doing. She’s made history at many different moments … [and] she definitely shows other women you can really do what you put your mind to if you just believe in it and fight for what you believe in; stand up for what you deserve and what you want to make happen.”

The 2019 American Music Awards air on ABC on Sunday, November 24, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
