NBA Will No Longer Hold Games On Election Day

It was announced today that the NBA will no long host games on Tuesday, November 8. According to NBC Los Angeles, every single team will instead play a game on November 7, for what will be called “civic engagement night.”

“We don’t usually change our schedule for an external event, but voting and Election Day are obviously unique and incredibly important to our democracy and that’s part of the value proposition that we want to make sure people understand that voting is unlike anything else,” James Cadogan, Executive Director of the league’s Social Justice Coalition, said according to NBC Los Angeles

The league is doing this in hopes of getting more Americans out to the polls instead of at home watching basketball games.
