Tim Tebow Planning to Sign 1-Year Deal with Jacksonville Jaguars

DIRECTV Super Saturday Night 2019 - Arrivals

Just when we thought Tim Tebow's football career was definitely done, the former NFL quarterback is back in the game!

Supposedly, Tim is signing a one year deal with his (and my!) hometown team, the Jacksonville Jaguars babyyyy! Ian Rapoport broke the news of the alleged comeback.

Football fans know Tim as the star quarterback at the University of Florida (coached by Urban Meyer, new Jags head coach) who couldn't plant roots in the NFL, jumping from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets, the New England Patriots then the Philadelphia Eagles before ditching football altogether in 2012 and signing with the New York Mets minor league team in 2016. Tim just retired from the Mets this year but I don't think most people expected him to go back to football.

This is insane news all the way around. First of all, he's 33 which is ancient in NFL years. Plus, the guy has a broadcast career, speaking engagements and endorsement deals among other things to get a steady check. However, smoe diehard Jags fans have been manifesting this moment since Tim played for the UF Gators. He's from the area and his parents still live there. Why wouldn't local football royalty come home to claim his throne? Sadly, he was drafted off to Denver but fans never stopped using their birthday wishes to bring. Tebow. BACK. HOME.

Ian Rapoport says the deal isn't done yet, but there are mixed feelings about the prodigal son taking the throne as a tight end. As a Jax native, it still doesn't feel real and it won't until I see newly drafted QB Trevor Lawrence throw a pass to Tim freaking Tebow.
