Carpool Karaoke - Lizzo Talks Beyonce and Does The 'About Damn Time' Dance

Lizzo joined James Cordon for an episode of carpool karaoke. The two sang abbreviated versions of her songs 'Good As Hell', 'Juice', and 'Truth Hurts'. The famous singer/rapper explained how she got her moniker Lizzo - there was a time in Houston when it was popular to create names by "chopping your name in half and adding an O." Her name Melissa became Lisso which then turned to Lizzo for the swag. She's been going by the high school nickname ever since. She also told Cordon that she's been playing flute since she was 12 years old and named her personal flute Sasha Floot after Beyonce's alter-ego Sasha Fierce. Lizzo admitted that there were times in her life when she was feeling shy, uncool, and bullied, and she would turn to Beyonce for help. She dropped out of college and was experiencing major depression and she again turned to Beyonce. She wanted to inspire people with her music the way Beyonce's music inspired her. Though Lizzo has yet to meet Beyonce, when she inevitably does the reaction she is going to have is going to be so adorable I cannot wait!! My absolute favorite part of the episode is when she makes James laugh so hard he cries after needing to 'readjust' her NOT YITTY drawers. Watch the full segment below!
