Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are a match made in paradise.

The engaged couple sat down for their first-ever joint interview with Interview Magazine, published hours after Gomez announced a new collaborative album with her fiancé called I Said I Love You First, where they opened up about their relationship, including their engagement. Blanco popped the question in December after more than a year of dating.

Though they didn't share too many details about the "sweet" moment, with Gomez admitting she wants to "save [the story] for our kids," Blanco opened up about the "crazy" way the romantic proposal was nearly ruined.

"It was the sickest surprise that she had no idea about and it couldn't have come at a better time because I was starting to f--- up," Blanco said. "The thing that makes me so crazy is, you're getting engaged, and right before, they're like, 'Show me how good of a liar you are. Sneak around and try to do this perfect thing without me known.' At the end, she was starting to get upset because she was like, 'Why aren't you coming home tonight?' And I was like, 'Oh, I'm just at my friends.'' I almost did it early. But I nailed it, I think."

The Rare Beauty founder also gushed over her gorgeous marquise diamond engagement ring, which she said she has "always dreamed of." Blanco said he would "throw little hints" about the ring to see if Gomez liked the designs, such as one ring that featured "huge baguettes on the side." However, Gomez "changed her mind halfway through" after deciding she didn't want a massive ring.

"I just think it's too much," she said.

The extra baguettes won't go to waste, though, as the music producer said they plan to use them to make earrings for his fiancée.

Elsewhere in the interview, Blanco explained how well they work together, saying he "[worships] the ground she walks on."

"There's no ego between us. She's praying for me to win and I'm praying for her to win. And I wake up in the morning — I know she does the same thing — and I'm like, 'How can I make her life better?' Holding her isn't close enough. I want to be inside of her whole body. I just feel a thing for her that I can't even explain. I'm so sappy," he said, as Gomez added, "It's very romantic."
