Taylor Swift surprised the crowd at a recent Eras Tour show by debuting a "murder mashup" shortly after her ex, Joe Alwyn, broke his silence on their 2023 breakup.
The Tortured Poets Department singer unveiled a unique mashup of surprise songs during her "favorite part of the show" at her concert in Liverpool on Saturday (June 15), telling the crowd, "I'm gonna call this the murder mashup," per Entertainment Tonight.
She started out playing "Carolina," which was featured on the soundtrack for the 2022 murder mystery film Where the Crawdads Sing, before she switched gears and moved into "No Body No Crime," her collaboration with HAIM from the 2020 album Evermore.
Fans in the crowd loved the killer mashup, sharing clips of the performance online and cheering as she said she hopes she doesn't "mess this up."
Some Swifties even think that the number was a diss to her ex-boyfriend given the timing of the mashup, with one person commenting, "OK, you have to give it to Taylor. A murder mashup right before she heads to London is hysterical," per Page Six.
The performance came on the same day that Alwyn broke his silence on his split from his longtime girlfriend after nearly seven years of dating. More than a year after he and Swift called it quits, the Kinds of Kindness actor reflected on the public response to their breakup.
"I would hope that anyone and everyone can [empathize] and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half," he said. "That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it's suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in."
He added that while there is wide public speculation on the reason for their split, he noted that "there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said."
