Dave Chappelle has plans to repurpose an old fire station in the Ohio village where he lives and grew up, opening it into a comedy club.
Yellow Springs Development Corporation opted to sell the obsolete station to Iron Table Holdings LLC, which Chappelle owns, according to local media outlets.
"We believe [Chappelle's comedy club] is the best and highest use of the fire station space, as an entertainment venue that does not directly compete with local businesses," the Yellow Springs Development Corporation’s Executive Director said in a press release. "And it helps draw additional commercial activity into the central business district."
Iron Table Holdings LLC beat out five other bids for the building in Yellow Springs, Ohio, according to the Cleveland Scene.
Chappelle returned to Yellow Springs, located near Dayton, he grew up in after wrapping The Chappelle Show.
