USPS Employee Goes 'Above And Beyond,' Delivers Heart Meds Lost In Mail

When a Cleveland man’s heart medication got lost in the shuffle, one U.S. Postal Service employee went “above and beyond” to make sure he got it.

Len Honacki told News 5 Cleveland that he was growing “a little worried,” wondering how long he should wait for his heart medication to arrive in the mail until he called his doctor.

“The post office had a series of mishaps,” Honacki said.

“Somewhere in there, inadvertently, it got sent to Maryland,” explained Alicia Rauckhorst, marketing manager in Northeast Ohio. “As soon as it got back, no matter where it was, I was going to let him know.”

Rauckhorst personally called Honacki and ensured that she would deliver his heart medication.

The medication finally arrived in Cleveland on Saturday night (December 19), and Rauckhorst made a special trip to hand deliver it to Honacki on Sunday morning (December 20).

“She called me just to apologize and she said ‘I will do whatever it takes to find your meds and I would get it to you,’” Honacki told News 5 Cleveland. “To me, I mean, come on, that’s above and beyond.”
