Demi Lovato’s latest tattoo is all about faith and freedom.
The “I’m Ready” singer unveiled some new ink to go along with her ever-expanding body tattoo collection, this time with what looks to be a butterfly sketched along the right side of her neck. "Dear little me, I’m sorry that it took so long but baby your free..☺️💖" Lovato captioned a gorgeous selfie of her wearing a floral dress on Wednesday (September 2).
As it’s been said, butterfly tattoos are symbolic of transformation, faith, and also represent freedom. Considering the spiritual journey the 28-year-old has been embarking on since late last year, her newest illustration makes perfect sense.
Lovato’s new tatt will pairs nicely with the previous neck ink — the word “survivor” — she got buzzed back in December. Prior to that, the superstar marked her “spiritual rebirth” with a tattoo of an angel being lifted by three birds as her wings fade away on the backside of her neck.
The butterfly, also said to be a symbol of love, seems fitting for the Grammy-nominated pop star, who recently announced her engagement to boyfriend-turned-fiance, Max Ehrich. After three months of dating the musician, the Young and the Restless actor popped the question in late-July in a romantic beachside proposal.
“When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his 'little partner' - something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent. To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner,” Lovato wrote of her future husband at the time. “I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you.”
