Hailey Baldwin, picturesque Instagram queen, knows her popularity on the platform comes with a lot of â sometimes unwanted â attention from her followers.
Super fans, or stans, as we've come to call them now, have become increasingly more involved with the lives of their celebrity faves, and Baldwin says she's no exception â and to be honest, it kind of bugs her.
The model expressed her strong feelings toward social media with Cosmopolitan on Thursday (March 21) while celebrating the launch of her ROXY Sister collection with friend Kelia Moniz.
"The problem too is kids become possessive over people and feel like if they think theyâre hurt, they feel hurt for them and theyâre hurt too, or whatever it is," the model told the publication. "They just think they know these people who are famous because their life is so exposed. And thatâs what gets me, I think, the most frustrated."
"Iâm like, you actually donât know me. You donât know him. You donât know her, you donât know these people for real. Whatâs really weird to me is they create scenarios in their head of what they think is happening or what they think should happen, and Iâm just like, âThis is just so dumb. Itâs so dumb.â"
This isn't the first time Hailey's expressed her ill feelings about Instagram culture, she did so in December after accusing her detractors of basically trying to ruin her life.
"Being off of Instagram is the best thing ever," she wrote on her Instagram Story at the time. "Itâs hard to focus on your well being and mental health when each time you open Instagram someone is tearing apart your job, or your relationship or essentially any of the things in your life that are positive."
