PHOTOS & AUDIO: 2025 Cincinnati Open Rd of 16 Gauff vs Bronzetti

Round of 16 action kicked off on Thursday at the 2025 Cincinnati Open. Center Court opened play with a WTA match that would feature American and #2 player in the world Coco Gauff taking on Italian Lucia Bronzetti.

Gauffs road to the round of 16 saw her knocking off China's Wang Xinyu in the 2nd round and receiving a walkover after in the 3rd round after Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska withdrew with an illness.

For Bronzetti the road was a little tougher. She defeated China's Lin Zhu in the 1st round, 15 seed Daria Kasatkina in the 2nd and 23 seed Jelena Ostapenko in the 3rd round.

This match would see Gauff get and early break and jump out to a 3-0 lead before Bronzetti could hold serve. Gauff from there would keep control and take the set.

The second set, while closer, never really saw Coco in trouble, and she would roll onto victory

Coco Gauff defeats Lucia Bronzetti 6-2,6-4.

Gauff will play the 7 seed Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the Quarterfinals on Friday.
